What Ephemeris is

Ephemeris is a map of your own trips, activities and stays, built from data exports you already own. It is a personal project run by one person, offered free and with no commercial relationship between us.

Your account

You sign in with Google and you are responsible for that account’s security. You must be old enough to consent to online services where you live — 13 in the UK, 13 to 16 across the EU depending on the country.

Your data stays yours

You keep every right in the data you import. Permission is granted only to store and display it back to you, and to whoever you deliberately give a share link. It is not used for anything else, and no ownership in it is claimed. Deleting it ends that permission.

Fair use

Please do not:

  • upload data that is not yours, or that you do not have permission to hold;
  • try to reach anyone else’s data, or probe the service for ways to do so;
  • automate imports at a volume that degrades the service for others.

Accounts doing any of these can be suspended or removed, and where something looks deliberately malicious that may happen without warning.

No guarantee of any kind

This is the part worth reading twice. Ephemeris is provided as is, with no guarantee of availability, accuracy, or preservation of your data. It may be unavailable, lose data, change substantially, or be shut down entirely, possibly without notice.

Ephemeris is not a backup. Keep your original export files. Everything here is derived from them and can be rebuilt from them; nothing here can replace them.

To the extent the law allows, there is no liability for any loss arising from using or being unable to use the service. Nothing here limits liability for anything that cannot lawfully be limited, and none of it affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Share links

A share link grants read-only access to your map to whoever holds it, and shows them the email address on your account — sending a link means sending your address with it. You decide who gets one, and you are responsible for that choice: anyone it is forwarded to can see the same thing. Revoke a link at any time from the Sharing tab of the Imports panel.

Ending it

You can delete your account at any time from the Data & privacy tab of the Imports panel — the panel that opens from the account chip in the corner of the map — which removes everything immediately. The service may also be withdrawn, in which case reasonable notice will be given where possible.

Changes

These terms may change. The date at the top changes with them, and continuing to use Ephemeris after that means the new version applies.
